Texas Mead & Music Festival
The Calm Before the storm. We look so hopeful and full of life.
This year was a landmark year as we participated in the 2026 Texas Mead & Music Festival presented by the Texas mead association and hosted by Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie TX. This is the 13th year of Texas Mead Fest, but the first time it’s been held at such a big venue.
Traditionally, Texas Mead Fest has been a smaller event where Texas Mead Association Member Meaderies come together to offer samples of their mead to attendees. With a state as big as Texas, this is a rare opportunity to taste a variety of different meads all in one place.
Established in 2012, The Texas Mead Association is a passionate community of commercial and amateur mead makers dedicated to popularizing mead across the great state of Texas. The TMA is committed to facilitate collaboration and cooperation among commercial mead makers through continuing education and supporting best practices in mead making. Throughout the year, the TMA engages in events and promotions to expand and elevate the status of Texas mead and its member manufacturers.
We’ve been a part of the Texas Mead Association since we were founded in 2022. We’ve missed a few years, but this is the third Mead Fest we’ve been a part of.
With over 2,000 attending guests, this event turned out to be much bigger than I had anticipated. While this was not the biggest event we had ever done, it was definitely the biggest mead focused event. Our sampling line never got shorter, which stressed me out, let me tell you!
Personally, I’ve been attending Scarborough Faire as a patron since I was a little kid so it was super surreal to drive my car into the grounds to set up for this event. It felt like I was getting a small glimpse into the magic that had enchanted me so much in my youth.
It was also super special to see the logos I had designed for the event, a guitar/honey dipper logo for Mead Fest and the “Texas Mead & Music Festival” logo, plastered on everything from maps and signage to T-shirts and souvenir glasses.
The grounds were decorated for Scarborough’s fall event, Scarborough’s Hollow, with yellow and orange foliage. Scarborough faire vendors were making last minute preparations, arranging their fall and spooky themed wares. I saw wizard and witches hats, ghosties, fall themed garb and more.
Except for the unforgiving Texas heat, it truly felt like a fall wonderland.
Overall, I think the first Texas Mead & Music Festival was a success, even with a couple of hiccups we experienced. We had a great time getting see some old friends and making some new ones. We learned a lot, and can’t wait to do it again and make it even better next year.
Thank you to everyone who came out to see us and support Texas Mead! See y’all again soon,
Huzzah!
